Discover the Magic of the Blue Cave

Imagine entering a cave where the waters inside glow in a brilliant shade of blue, creating an atmosphere so surreal it feels like you’ve stepped into another world. This is the enchanting experience you can expect when you embark on a Blue Cave Tour in Croatia.

Located on the tiny island of Biševo, the Blue Cave is one of Croatia's most famous and breathtaking natural wonders. But before you dive into this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, there are a few things you should know to make the most of your visit.

What Is the Blue Cave?

The Blue Cave (also known as Modra Špilja) is an extraordinary sea cave situated on the island of Biševo, just off the coast of Vis. This magical spot is famed for its stunning blue-hued waters, which are illuminated by sunlight filtering through an underwater entrance. When the sun is positioned just right, the cave’s interior glows in vibrant shades of blue, creating a mesmerizing and unforgettable experience.

The Blue Cave was once a secret, hidden from most tourists. It was only accessible by small boats, and its glowing waters were known to only a few. Today, it’s a must-see attraction for visitors to the Dalmatian coast, but it still retains an air of mystery and wonder that captivates everyone who visits.

When Is the Best Time to Visit the Blue Cave?

Timing is everything when it comes to visiting the Blue Cave. The most magical experience happens during the early afternoon hours, typically between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., when the sun is at its highest point. During this time, the light streaming through the cave’s underwater entrance creates the iconic glowing blue effect, transforming the water into a shimmering spectacle.

However, be prepared for crowds—during peak season (July and August), the Blue Cave can get quite busy. If you're looking for a more peaceful, intimate experience, visiting in the shoulder season (May-June or September-October) is ideal.

How to Get to the Blue Cave

To visit the Blue Cave, you’ll need to take a boat, as it’s located on a small island that isn’t accessible by land.

There are several ways to organize your trip:

A private boat tour allows you to enjoy the Blue Cave at your own pace, and often provides more time inside the cave, as you’re not rushed by other tourists.

What to Expect During Your Blue Cave Tour

Once you arrive at the entrance to the Blue Cave, your guide will lead you through the narrow entrance in a small, motorized boat. Depending on the tide and weather conditions, the entrance may be a bit low, so be ready to duck down as you glide through. As you enter the cave, the sunlight creates a magical blue glow that reflects off the water and illuminates the cave’s walls. It’s an ethereal experience that you won’t soon forget.

You’ll have the opportunity to take in the stunning scenery for a few minutes before returning to your boat. Depending on your tour, your skipper may also take you to nearby islands or secluded beaches to further explore the beauty of the area.

What to Bring and Wear for the Tour

When you embark on a Blue Cave Tour, here are a few tips to ensure you have the best experience:

The sound of the gentle waves lapping against the side of your private boat is all you can hear, and the only thing on your mind is the breathtaking beauty of the Croatian coast around you. This isn’t just any tour; this is an exclusive adventure crafted just for you.

Croatia’s coastline is a treasure trove of hidden islands, crystal-clear waters, and secret coves—places you could only dream of experiencing. While group boat tours might give you a taste, they often feel rushed and impersonal, limiting your connection with the natural beauty of the region. But when you opt for a private boat tour, you unlock a whole new world of exploration, flexibility, and luxury.

Let me take you through why a private boat tour is the ultimate way to explore Croatia.

1. Escape the Crowds and Embrace Peace

Imagine arriving at a secluded beach, with no one else in sight. No noisy tourists, no rush to find a spot to relax. Just you, your friends, and the untouched beauty of the Adriatic. That’s the magic of a private boat tour.

On a typical group tour, the crowds can make it hard to truly appreciate the breathtaking scenery. But with a private boat, you’ll have the entire space to yourself, allowing you to fully immerse in the peaceful serenity of the Croatian coastline. Whether you’re lounging on the deck, swimming in hidden lagoons, or just savoring the beauty of the surrounding islands, you can take your time and enjoy each moment.

2. Design Your Own Adventure

No more rigid schedules or rushing from one destination to the next. A private boat tour allows you to create your perfect itinerary, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace.

Maybe you’ve always dreamed of spending an entire afternoon exploring the sparkling Blue Cave, or perhaps you want to discover the charming streets of Hvar without being rushed. With a private tour, your day is yours to design. You decide how long to stay at each destination, where to go next, and what experiences to prioritize—whether it’s snorkeling in crystal-clear waters or lounging on hidden beaches.

3. Discover Hidden Gems Only Accessible by Boat

Some of Croatia’s most beautiful spots are tucked away, hidden from the usual tourist paths and only accessible by boat. Picture this: stepping off your boat onto a pristine, secluded beach that you can’t find in the guidebooks. Or perhaps you’ll swim in hidden caves, surrounded by untouched nature, that most visitors never get to experience.

A private boat tour takes you to those secret gems—places that are far off the beaten track, only reachable by boat, and completely free from the usual crowds. These are the places where memories are made and where the magic of the Adriatic truly comes to life.

4. Experience Personalized Luxury

A private boat tour isn’t just about the destinations; it’s about the journey itself. From the moment you’re picked up at your hotel, you’ll feel like a VIP. With Klobuk Travel, hotel pickup and drop-off are included, ensuring that you don’t have to worry about anything other than enjoying your day.

Golden Horn

Some refer to it as Golden Cape, or on Croatian- Zlatni Rat is the most recognizibile, and most significant beach in Croatia. Some say it is the most beautiful, but for sure it has become a symbol of Croatia and you can find it on almost every postcard. It is also one of th most unique beaches in the world. In other words- no way you will find another beach like it anywhere in the world !
Golden Horn is one thousand meters long pebble beach, with pine wood in the middle. It is shaped like top of the speer, but it is well known fact that it changes shape under influence of winds. In fact, the very becah somehow affects the weather conditions, and acts like a wind amplifier. That is the reason kite surfers and windsurfers just love it. Interesting fact: measurements have shown that the beach is getting longer each year, and it gained 80 meters in period from 2006.
Golden Horn is a natural phenomena, which is protected by Croatian goverment as geomorphological monument.

Bol

Bol is town on island Brac, located 2 kilometers from the most famous beach in the world- Golden Horn. You leave your boat on very nice promenade, and have lunch in Topolino, our favourite restaurant.

SPLIT

1700 year old town, at first a colony of antient Greeks called Aspalathos, and later a summerhouse of Roman Emperor Diokletian. Today it is recognised by well preserved remains of Diokletians Palace, around which the center of Split was built around. The sellers of Diokletian, the cathedral of st Duje, Jupiters temple, Peristil square, Golden and Silver Gate, and fotrified walls along the promenade are historical monuments, but also still serve its purpose, and are used by the inhabitants of the city for everyday life.
Besides its antient history, Split is known for its natural beauties, like beaches, Marjan hill- park of nature, and warm and sunny weather, troughout all year. Nigtlife, and gastronomy are also factors which draw a large number of tourists to visit this Pearl of Mediterranean, as we like to call it. Local poets, and singers have dedicated many songs to this town, that they love so much, and for a good reason, as you will find out when you visit it !

TROGIR

Trogir , UNESCO protected town is a story of its own. It is placed on a small island , in between land , and anoher island ( Ciovo ), and is connected to them with two bridges. The towns draws it roots from Greek colonisers in 3rd century b.c., but main buildings that we see today were developed in romanic- gothic era.
In modern times very popular tourist destination, and huge boat rental and luxury yacting charter base.
What drives tourists to Trogir is its rich history. Narrow stone streets between the castle walls , and guard tower tell the story about some other times. And you are able to re-live it, in your mind, you can easily imagine your self living there a few centuries a go, since everything is like it was, well preserved, intact !
The main attraction is meister Radovans cathedral, be sure to pay it a visit.
Our favourite chilling spot is Vrata o grada restaurant, where you can enjoy amazing food, while you keep an eye on superyachts sailing in and out from the promenade.

BLUE LAGOON CROATIA

Blue Lagoon on Drvenik island, ows its name to crystal clear water. In fact, sea here is so transparent, that you see every detail on the bottom, at every time. Very popular destination for those who love snorkeling, swimming, or just soaking their feet while drinking cocktail in a beach bar. Hundreds of boats visit this place, and drop the anchor on daily bases.

MASLINICA

Maslinica is historical village on island Solta, funded in Venetian era. The casle, with fortified walls, once used for defence from the pirates, today is a hotel and a restaurant. Archipelagio of seven small islands in front of the Maslinica bay adds charm, and makes a pretty nice photo from our favourite, exclusive fish restaurant Šanpjer on top of the hill above the village

NEČUJAM

Nečujam bay is hiding place for large number of boats who seek perfect anchoring spot. The ancient Romans called this place Valissurda, which means deaf bay. Emperor Dioklecian had his fishpond here, remains of which you can find on bottom of the bay. Also, this place was an ancient spa, people used to come here to enjoy therapy in healing mud. In those times it took 8 hours of rowing to get from Split to Necujam, but today it takes only 20 minutes with speed boat.
This place was also residence for famous Croatian poets Marko Marulić, and Petar Hektorović, who wrote some of their best pieces there.
Boats cruising the croatian cost come here to take shelter from bad wether, or just enjoy serenity of peacefull lagoon surrounded with pine trees. Below surface of the sea you will find sunkenn boat, a snorkelers dream !
However, the main attraction in modern days is a floating coctail bar: friendly and cheerfull bartender making Mojitos on his small electric boat, delivering them as you are anchoring. You wont be thirsty or bored here, he is always on duty !

STOMORSKA

Time for lunch in restaurant Turanj, we will dock and tie the boat just in front of the tables where we will be having lunch.
